History:
Mello was born as Mihael Keehl, though it is not revealed who his parents were or where he is actually from. It is assumed he was orphaned very early on in life, and grew up in Wammy's House, an orphanage for gifted children in Winchester, England. Not so much an orphanage but rather a training facility, it would turn out, for children with exceptional intelligence level or those gifted with equally exceptional skills. Since the main objective of this orphanage was to raise the next 'L', the best detective and presumably the most intelligent person on the planet, it made for a very competetive environment.
Mello grew up being second best. As much as he hated losing, as much as he tried and worked and studied, in the end he was never able to beat Near. And while Mello struggled and did his best every inch of the way, his rival never seemed to put in any effort at all.
L himself had not yet decided which of the boys should succeed him when he was killed by the mass-murderer Kira. That is why Roger, the head of the orphanage, suggested that Mello and Near work together, in favor of choosing one of them over the other. Mello declined, leaving the orphanage at age 14 to find his own way of bringing Kira down.
In the years that followed not much is revealed of what exactly he was doing, but at age 19 he had become the advisor of a very influential gang in the United States. The plan was to blackmail the Japanese police force into giving up the Death Note they had acquired – so they kidnapped the director. However, he knew nothing of any notebook and gets killed by Kira to avoid having to trade the second notebook. Mello proceeded to have Sayu Yagami kidnapped, daughter of Soichiro Yagami, who was in charge of the task force trying to catch Kira – and also, Light Yagami's, and thus Kira's - sister.
Everything was set up perfectly, and Mello managed to get his hands on the Death Note. What they had not planned was that the Task Force was able to find out their location a while later, effectively wiping out the entire mob, and forcing Mello into the most reckless action yet – blowing up the entire building, with all of the task force as well as himself still inside. Though he survived the attack and the explosion, his real name was revealed to Kira, which would eventually lead to his death.
Marked with severe burn scars from the incident, he reappeared several months later, forcing his way into the headquarters of Near's special forces, the SPK. Retrieving the only photograph of himsef from Near, he leaves him with a hint of information on the fake rules in the Death Note. Between the two of them, they declare a race to catch Kira before Mello disappears once again. As if trading for the photograph though, he sets up a way of getting one of the Task Force members to talk to Near personally – even though he is also doing this to get information himself, this helps further Near's investigation quite a bit.
The next time Mello is shown, he is already working with his friend Matt. There is still indirect contact with Near, a way of them to exchange favors and hints, even if they are not officially working together. Matt and Mello proceed to tail Mogi and Aizawa, leading to their observation of both Amane Misa and the Task Force's headquarters. This also brings Mello to the conclusion that the person who took up L's name after the real L had died was Yagami Light, Yagami Soichiro's son. Soon after that, the two of them follow Amane and the Task Force back to Japan.

History, contd.
...and that is where he pulls his most reckless move yet.
In cooperation with Matt, he kidnapps Kira's spokesperson, Takada Kiyomi, to renew the pressure on Kira and discover the true connection between her and the killings. It's a ratheer desperate move, since he has reason to believe that Near is close to solving the case, and he makes more than one mistake in this plan. Not only does he get his friend killed - he fails to realize that his real name is known to Kira, and therefore to Takada as well. He goes just that tiny bit too easy on her, allowing her a blanket while she changes out of her clothes, creating an opening for her to write his name on a page of the Death Note. Mello dies of a heart attack at the age of 21, in an abandoned church, somewhere in Japan.

Personality: If I had to describe Mello's personality in one word, I would say he's driven. Driven by his pride and his ambition to bring down Kira, and more importantly, to defeat Near. Driven by his will and his stubbornness bordering on megalomania. He doesn't care about very many human beings apart from himself. A dozen people might be dying around him and he doesn't even spare them a thought so long as his plan doesn't fail. It can be canonically said that the only people Mello ever cared about were Matt, L, and Near. Even though his relationship with Near is a complicated one, a story of polar oposites, bitter rivalry and struggle.
In all due respect for this though, Mello is probably the only major character within Death Note canon who does, in fact, have a friend – and that is Matt. So he is, at least, capable of caring. His priorities are just set differently than other people's.
He is very strong-willed and hot headed, something that makes him, above all else, human, and thus, dangerous. Very much in accordance to the Bible, he is either hot or cold, but never lukewarm. Though he may be moody, he knows perfectly well how and when to keep himself in check, the only possible exceptions are when people he cares about are involved. He is an inteligent and cunning individual, not afraid to get into action and do his own dirty work to accomplish his goals. He is also rather materialistic – seen in his very specific taste for clothing, for instance, as well as his being rather particular about the brand of chocolate he's eating.
The single reason I specified I'll be playing the manga version of Mello though, was the fact that he is always shown wearing a rosary. (In the anime, they edited it into some sort of nondescript pendant) I want to focus on the religious roots that still might be in there, somewhere. He knows, he knows he's doing wrong. He was brought up with a better idea of justice and reason than most people, and due to the choices he made was forced to abandon these convictions. He isn't just a gangster, even when he joins the mafia he does know better. But now that he's set in his priorities, he's hell-bent on going down this road to the bitter end, because at the end, he is most certain, will be victory.
The explosion of the Mafia headquarters does have quite an impact on him however. It rather darkens his personality, making him a lot more serious, even grimm. Little as he cared about the mob, he now rather prefers to work completely by himself. He does not become any less reckless, but a lot less easygoing – his whole borderline hyperactive energy now focused solely on his goal. The most aparent thing though? He is much more openly angry now, after the humiliation he suffered from having to use his last resort. And he's not having that again.

Other: Mello is a very intelligent but not flawless person. His posts will be pretty hackable at first, yes. But since he knows, he won't be placing much important info in them. He will, for a long while, not even reveal his face in posts, and his name is entirely taboo. Mello has access to lots of things, weapons, information, everything he might need to get what he wants. Even if he has no special abilities, he knows how to work with what he has. He can shoot a gun, and his aim is more than decent, and even at this point it's pretty hard to shock him with anything the human mind can come up with.
The point in canon I'll be taking him from is just after the mob aquired the Death Note, so there will be plenty of canon-moves to come. And hopefully we'll find some way to save him and Matt.

First Person (VOICE): [The audio clicks on, there are muffled screams in the background before, by the sound of it, a heavy metal door is shut and steps approach the recording device. As the steps come closer, the rustle of leather clothes can also be heard. The person sits down in front of the microphone and begins to speak. He sounds young and confident.]
„So, dramadramaduck. This site is all my laptop seems to be able to access anymore, and I'm sure you have some sort of explanation for that.
I realize that this is all much too elaborately set up to be a game or a joke, and given the most recent turn of events, I am compelled to believe that all of you really do come from different worlds.
I'm sure this place will at least be able to entertain me for a while.
So whoever else is out there, you may call me Mello.“

Third Person: Prompt: Solitude
Mello has, always, had more people skills than Near. That was the one skill, the one competition that he won without trying, even though he didn't really appreciate it much. Mello took this for granted, and most people were simply a means to an end to him. In that sense, he was very much alone. When he was on the street, when he joined the Mafia... it was all about him, about his goals. He didn't care about lives any more than he cared about money. Nice having people to do the dirty work, but not strictly necessary. Well, there was one exception.
...and that was Matt.
He called him sometimes. And on even rarer occasions, he stopped by where he lived, when he was in the area. It was something that came naturally to Mello, even though he had to admit that he wasn't particularly good at keeping in touch. But he still did.
In spite of this though: when the Task Force raided the mafia hideout, he wound up alone. Burnt, bleeding and humiliated beyond belief, he struggled on. It was hard, facing Near this way. But only after that, having looked his rival into his empty, emotion- and colourless eyes after going through this hell, did he work up the courage to call his friend again.
...maybe he wasn't made for solitude.

...geez, sorry. Messed up on the prompts, I'd copied the ones from the old application post. If that is some sort of problem, I can write another sample for you.

Character: Roderich Edelstein/Austria
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Character Notes:
History: Austria is an extremely old country, so I’m just going to focus on the parts of its history that are relevant to Roddy’s personality/the Hetalia “canon”. I’ll write more if you want me to fill in the gaps, I just don’t want to force you guys to have to read paragraph upon paragraph of Austrian history where nothing of consequence to the plot happens.
Thanks to the Habsburg family which ruled Austria, and by extension the Holy Roman Empire, from the end of the 13th century to the start of WWI, Austria has long been associated with wealth and opulence. For most of its history, Austria was a Duchy, which was only changed after WWI thanks to the trouble that Archduke Franz Ferdinand caused to the rest of the world. Thanks to the Treaty of Carlowitz signed in 1699, Hungary became joined with Austria.
Before Marie Theresa (a Habsburg) could ascend to the throne as Archduchess, a series of wars broke out to control the German-speaking people began between Austria and Prussia, the two largest Germanic states at the time. The whole thing was started when Prussia, who was allied with France, decided that a woman was forbidden to rule. Austria, knowing that there was no such law ever stated, wasn’t willing to interrupt the Habsburgs’ power, thus starting the War of Austrian Succession. During the first year of the war, Prussia invaded Silesia, which was taken very personally. Austria essentially fought with Prussia until he was kicked out of the German Federation after being defeated in the last decisive battle of the Austro-Prussian War. It’s important to note that there were an additional four wars between Austrian Succession and the Austro-Prussian thus prompting the two countries to hate each other forever and ever. Or at least until Germany later engulfed Prussia in 1934.
After Ferdinand’s assassination and the completion of WWI, the Austria-Hungary Empire was split into Austria and Hungary, although the two nations remained extremely close thanks to their joint cultures. In 1938, Germany and Austria united under the Third Reich, which is commonly known as the Anschluss.
Personality: Roderich is rather behind the times, much preferring to live in the past than the present thanks, in part, to his stubborn nature. Despite the waning military power, he despises being taken lightly. However, he is much more optimistic and quiet than his fellow Germanic countries. When he does speak, Roderich is careful to speak very elegantly and politely. He doesn’t enjoy working very hard and values music and art and food much more than war. Roderich is the type of guy to always put himself and his hobbies (mostly playing the piano or violin) above others, and usually expects other people to do things for him, such as bringing him tea.
Other: The little group of hair sticking out of the top of his head represents the city of Mariazell. His glasses represent all the great classical music that’s been written by an Austrian composer. Needless to say, he’s very protective of both.

First Person (entry type): What an interesting name this place has. So, I assume this community is about plays and the like? I certainly hope everyone here is welcoming to the other arts, as well. Personally, I enjoy the piano. Although the violin is a fine instrument as well, wouldn’t you agree? Oh, how rude of me to not introduce myself. I am Roderich Edelstein, but most people simply call me Austria. I eagerly await getting to know all of you a bit better. Perhaps you can tell me a bit about the countries you live in? I would love to hear about all the different cultures that exist outside of Europe. I would really appreciate learning something about your home’s music, in particular. Danke schön!
Third Person: His practiced hands touched the keys, ending the silence that had become heavy. Roderich’s eyes closed as he listened to his playing. He’d practiced this melody so many times before he didn’t even need to look at the music. It was better that way; the passion was much more obvious when the fundamentals had been memorized. Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 8 flowed through the house, as Roderich’s fingers fluttered over his well-loved piano. Every chipper note reminded the Austrian of birds singing in the morning, sitting perched on a tree. Or maybe even rain falling on a lake, the lower, more ominous notes would have to be thunder or the wind or some such thing. Or maybe it was supposed to be –
Roderich’s eyes snapped open as he hit a wrong note. With an annoyed sigh, he realized that he evidently should have practiced a bit more. Staring intently at the sheet music, he began practicing the section that made him ruin the song, angry at himself for letting his mind wander so far away from the notes themselves.

Mello says it's not irony, it's conviction.
and I say you're absolutely right. And so is he. And that's why I picked it. ;)

Current Characters: Fuu Hououji, Simon the Digger, Itsuki Tachibana
Character: Mariya Shidou (pre-canon)
Fandom: Maria+Holic
Character Notes:
History: I suppose a good place to start would be to say that Mariya's late grandmother was the chairman of two prestigious religious schools, separated by gender. The heirs to these schools were the Shidou twins, Mariya and Shizu. When she passed on, she left this challenge to decide who would inherit chairmanship of both schools: Each of the twins would attend the school meant for the opposite gender, to get to know how the opposite gender thought. Mariya would attend Ame no Kisaki and Shizu, the connected boy's school. If either of them was found out to be their real gender, they would lose chairmanship and the other would win. Mariya went with this for his entire school career, until, one day, the day before he entered high school, a transfer student, Miyamae Kanako (a lesbian looking for her "yuri partner" with Mariya as her ideal canidate), stumbled upon his maid, Matsurika, lacing up his corset. Since Kanako isn't a student just yet, Mariya swears her to silence, and goes as far as to stalk her and move into her dorm room to make sure Kanako doesn't tell. He watches her every move. Every. Single. One. Being rich, he totally can, too. However, the point where I'm taking him from, he is just graduating middle school and going into high school, so none of this Kanako business has happened yet.
Personality: Maryia comes across as a sweet girl. She's organized, helpful and kind. There is never a moment when she is not selflessly helping another or generously donating her time. Being the freshman class president, most of the girls at Ame no Kisaki look up to her. But as much as Mariya isn't a girl, he isn't any of those things, either. Mariya Shidou is a monster. When he shows his true colors, he's haughty and sadistic, using every weakness he knows of on his victim. He's observant, and can see through people easily, which he ALWAYS uses to his advantage. He's gone as far as to threaten and use his own twin sister to get what he wants (though he claims it's out of love). I'm sure he has a heart in there somewhere, as he does try to help others quite often--or is that just because he wants to keep up his image?
Other: Mariya is a member of the archery team, the freshman class president and a highly respected member of the student body. He also has breast-envy aginst the student body president, whom he has a long rivalry with. His maid, Matsurika, follows him EVERYWHERE. And he often uses her to get what he needs, going as far as to rip open her blouse to peg Kanako as a sexual offender.

[Strikes can't be seen :D]
This is strange. I wonder if my computer has contracted some sort of virus, as this is the only website I can access. The hell is this place? Ducks and Drama? What a bore. Probably some kid's idea of having fun. Morons. Since it's a networking site of some sort, I should introduce myself, shouldn't I? I'm Mariya Shidou, and I'll be entering my first year of high school in a few days, at Ame no Kisake, the pretegious girl's Christian school. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I've sent Matsurika-chan to fetch a programmer from the school. Really how long is she going to take? Useless. Unfortunately, they're rather inexperienced, as dorm students are not allowed to have personal computers, and it is rare for the school's systems to break down. Will something like that work? Feed back would be most appreciated! ^_^
Third Person:
The theme of the picnic was “strawberries,” he read off of his invitation. Strawberries. Why strawberries? Mariya hated strawberries. They were bitter little fruits with almost no nutritional value—from what he understood, you burned more calories chewing than you gained from them—and the little seeds annoyed him. He didn't understand what girls found so amazing about them, but he'd yet to meet a girl who said she disliked strawberries. So he ate them, too. Over the years, he'd had a lot of trouble blending in. This was something trivial. It had been much easier in elementary school when all he had to do was wear a dress and keep quiet about his extra parts. Somewhere in middle school, all the girls hit puberty, and, of course, he had to follow suit. Now that he was older, the corset and fake breasts were becoming more and more awkward. He could rarely take them off, or risk losing the bet.
Frustrated, he sighed and tossed the invitation into the trash, before spinning around in his chair, to face Matsurika. He held out his feet for her. She slipped his loafers onto them. She then handed him his school bag.
Mariya smiled, and laughed a little as he passed a mirror. Ready to start the day.

Character Notes:
History: Matt doesn't have much canon history. We do know that he was orphaned at a young age and grew up at the prestigious Wammy's House in Winchester, England alongside Mello and Near. Wammy's House was more than just an orphanage, however, as it prided itself on housing the extremely intelligent and gifted children. While this was all fine and dandy for some kids, Matt wasn't particularly driven to become the next 'L' as some of the others were. Thus, he was happy seated in third place for his time there.
He got along well with the other children he bothered to speak with and had no trouble making friends, but he wasn't a very social child and would rather keep to his video games and computers. The two children he did get to know were in the top seats at Wammy's, Mello and Near. Given Near's almost indifferent nature, Matt preferred to be around the more animated (not to mention violent) Mello. Mello and Near would soon be the only people he kept touch with upon leaving Wammy's.
When the news of L's death came, Wammy's House became somewhere Matt couldn't see himself taking residency in anymore. Mello had left and Near soon followed, Matt was left with an environment he no longer felt like tolerating and made his own departure. It isn't known where exactly he went or what exactly he did, but it seems implied that he kept contact with Mello.
It's easy to say that in their time apart, Matt continued with using the skills he acquired at Wammy's and did some freelance work. With his ability to deftly hack into almost any computer system and his eye for detail, Matt could be very valuable to anyone seeking assistance in that field. As true to his nature, he never gives out his real name and always works under an Alias. Leaving a metaphorical bread crumb trail isn't in his wiring.
Personality: Matt is in all senses antisocial. He doesn't enjoy surrounding himself with people or entertaining them. Given the opportunity, he is able to make friends and has quite the character to back it up. Most of his social interaction comes from his work or Mello though. While working, Matt is quite the charmer and can come off as confident and casual. With that said, he's good at pretending.
When his guard is down, Matt is a pretty weird guy. He likes to talk about video games and make awkward jokes that only he seems to get. He doesn't smile very often, but is good at making strange faces when he's thinking or bored. It's really a surprise Mello tolerates that relatively well. He should though, given that Mello is really the only person aside from Near (on occasion) that gets to see that side of him.

Hey, "Dramadramaduck". I have to commend you on your ability to do what most cannot. That is, take control of most of my computers and lock them onto one site. I would give you a round of applause, but you may take that as a sign you're winning. Which you're not, by the way. I'll find a way.
My name? Is this a joke? If this is some Candid Camera shit, you're not doing it right. [A sigh as he reaches for the cigarette off screen and take a drag. There are a few moments of silence.] You can call me Matt.

Third Person: Prompt: Rain
It's raining again. It always seems to be here. Matt inclines his head away from the computer screen to stare at the single window in his dark apartment. The drops of water are practically pounding on the fragile set glass, shaking it as if to purposefully make that awful rattling noise. He sighs and draws his gaze back to the computer screen. Five more passwords to go... It's not going to be long until he's done with his current client's request.
He leans back against the shabby denim blue couch that looks as if he picked it up off of the sidewalk and reaches for the pack of cigarettes that was casually tossed aside minutes ago. He shakes the pack and slides one out, placing it loosely between his lips and going for his lighter almost immediately after. The light the flame generates flickers on his features, causing a glare to spark in his goggles. After lighting his cigarette, he takes a deep drag and reaches up to remove the goggles. He sets them delicately next to his leg, careful not to mess them up in any way.
The rain reminds him of Wammy's House, of all the things that were long past. Sure, Mello called every now and then, but Mello had a way about him that screamed at him to keep looking forward, never behind. Another drag of his cigarette and he's looking at the window again. It looks different without his goggles, as if he really it isn't reality. He isn't sure when that pair of goggles became his safety net. That job used to solely rest on the cigarettes. But before that... The image his mind conjures up reminds him to keep moving forward and he can't help but smile, fingertips ghosting over the lenses of his goggles.
Sometimes the rain was all right.

Character Notes:
History:
(This includes a little about James Logan as the two characters are so closely linked.)
Victor Creed was born around 1835 in Canada, and is the half-brother of James Logan, otherwise known as Wolverine. After Logan killed their drunken father in a fit of rage, the half-brothers fled, surviving and fighting alongside each other through several major wars including the American Civil War, both World Wars and the conflict in Vietnam. After Creed attempted to rape a Vietnamese woman and then attacked his American allies, both he and Logan were sentenced to death by firing squad.
Having survived their 'deaths' - thanks to their regenerative abilities - Creed and Logan were drafted into a military squad of mutants under the command of a Major Stryker. However, this team turned out to be brutal and vicious in their methods, killing innocents if Stryker saw fit to do so. Logan couldn't bear to carry out any more atrocities and left the group; Creed seemed to enjoy carrying out Stryker's orders, and stayed.
Six years after Logan's departure from the group, Creed secretly continued to work with Stryker, hunting down young mutants for his Weapon XI project and tricking Logan into receiving an adamantium coating to his skeleton; Creed's deal with Stryker was that he would receive the same technology. After Stryker went back on the deal Creed's loyalty to Stryker seems to have vanished, and Creed helped Logan to defeat Weapon XI.

Personality:
One of the most noticeable things about Creed’s personality is that he loves to fight. Combat invigorates and excites him, and he takes a sick pleasure in inflicting pain on others, allowing his feral, animal side to dominate him and revelling in it. Unlike Logan, who seems to try and keep his more primal side in check, Victor Creed has embraced and welcomed his more base instincts, and feels little guilt in gutting his enemies. He knows that what he does is wrong but he loves doing it anyway and perhaps views Logan as being weak for denying their true beast-like natures.
He's snarky, patronising and sarcastic to most people he encounters, possibly because he feels superior to them, knowing that he could cut them down in a second. If smooth-talking and treachery don’t work, he uses brute strength to try and get his own way, and when he doesn’t get what he wants he is prone to very dark moods indeed. He has issues with authority figures and doesn’t take orders very well unless by doing so he can get something that he wants from the deal.
Logan’s departure from Stryker’s mutant squad affected Creed in a very personal way; he feels that Logan abandoned him and it affected him more than most people would realise. Having fought alongside his half-brother for over a century, having him just turn his back and walk away hurt him more than he would care to admit. He is also jealous of Logan’s adamantium skeleton, not only because it gives Logan an edge in combat, but it also serves as a reminder that Logan’s regenerative abilities are far superior to his own. And Creed hates not feeling superior.
Other:
Creed possesses several mutations, all of which combine to give him a feral attitude and appearance. His fingernails are sharp, tiger-like claws which he can retract at will, he has fangs, and he can regenerate when damaged, even recovering from wounds which would kill most others outright.
He still feels like a big brother towards James Logan at times, and calls him ‘Jimmy’ even now. He would keep a very keen eye on Logan on DDD, whether Logan knows it or not, and rather than making direct challenges, he is more likely to try and draw Logan out.
It’s also worth noting that, although Victor Creed looks about 35 years old, he is actually around 150; time doesn’t have the same meaning for him as for other people. Because of this, he can come out with things without thinking, betraying his real age.
Also note: If this application is accepted, I’d probably be paying Victor Creed after the end of the film. However, I think there seems to be a movie Wolverine player around, in which case I’d like to fit in with wherever they are playing him as I think the interaction would be better.

First Person (entry type):
Well, I suppose I’d better get to grips with this thing sooner or later. Can’t say I ever cared that much for technology, but all the kids seem to be doing it these days.
You know what’s funny? I remember when the US military started up this whole ARPA thing, and then CERN and their World Wide Web project; all these concerns about homeland security and all that seems to be happening is a bunch of people exchanging recipes for muffins or whatever it is you do around here. So much for the Cold War and thedeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
…damn. I think I just broke a nail.
Third Person:
Family. What a goddamn joke. What the hell was that word supposed to mean, anyway? He’d pretty much turned his back on his real family as soon as he’d been old enough to recognise the familiar sour smell of alcohol on his father’s breath and his mother’s silent acceptance of it, and learned that by not being at home, he could avoid getting hurt. He’d turned his back on them all, not caring what happened to any of them. Except for Jimmy.
James Logan. Jimmy. Where was he now, he wondered? Still thinking that the sun shone out of his ass, acting all high and mighty like he thought he was some kind of saint? Still walking the world and acting like it owed him some kind of favour? The world didn’t owe anyone anything, he knew that much. You just had to take what you could.
His lip curled slightly as he thought about all the times they’d fought alongside each other, back-to-back, protecting each other from whatever the world had to throw at them. That’s what brothers did, right? And how did Logan repay him? By turning on his sorry heel and walking away. Walking away from over a hundred years of surviving together. Creed’s fingers twitched as he remembered that moment, remembered how he’d called out Jimmy’s name, and he’d just gone. Just walked away.
Growling softly to himself, he felt his claws emerge, responding to the anger that had been stirred up by his memories. His claws, his razor-sharp claws, strong enough to tear through metal, strong enough to rend flesh and turn it into an unrecognisable messy red pulp… oh, he’d find Jimmy all right. He’d find him, and show him what being family really meant.
