Or to use its full title, the Some Twelve-Year-Old's Crossover Fanfic Of Questionable Quality Which Is Evidently Set In An Alternate Universe In Which Character X Is Adapted For Universe Y Virus.
Basically, characters suddenly find themselves in other characters' universes. They are in situations equivalent to whatever they were in before, and their abilities and memories have been altered to make them fit into those universes. They may even have been physically altered if it's appropriate. So, for instance, Omega might wake up as an ex-Decepticon with a grudge against Megatron, and find this perfectly normal.
Affected muses would get one of the sins or virtues that their muse displays mostly. Like with Kaye, she's likely to either get Sloth or Wrath since she tends to be very lazy but she also gets upset and angered by things, especially when dealing with the fae.
Okay, so here's my idea for an event. A real virus hits the community, causing members to become very ill, but nobody knows what it is. The doctors and nurses of the community have to put their heads together in order to figure it out!
Sounds simple enough, but I think it would work best as something that happens subtly at first. Like, one character gets sick, then starts passing it on to other people. Example:
Say Phoenix started falling ill. He wouldn't panic about it because maybe in the beginning it'll mimic the symptoms of a common cold and Phoenix is no stranger to those. Eventually he visits Maraich and passes it along. Maraich lives with Demyx and passes it to him. Demyx occasionally world-hops people and passes it to them, etc... Everyone thinks they're just sick, right?
Meanwhile, Phoenix is getting sicker. I haven't thought about what kinds of effects this virus would cause, but maybe people affected would be close to death or ultimately fall into some kind of coma. As this happens to more and more members, people realize that something's not right. Doctors get together, panic over wtf is going on, eventually find a cure, and then--whoo. Everyone's okay.
I think it'd work best as something that happens in the background at first, so characters can go on with their daily lives and participate in regularly scheduled viruses and events. That way the slow progression of this particular event wouldn't be so daunting and get stale, you know? Then when it all comes to a head, three or for days can be set aside for OMG PANIC before everything finally calms down.
An epic real-life pandemic spreads through the community - maybe even a person or two dies from the disease. Either way, it's running amok geostigma-style and the only man who can stop it is HOUSE.
Using Wilson as his epic diagnostic team because the ducklings would blow him off, Cuddy gets to play caretaker, and House has to diagnose the comm!
Setine votes Hojo is behind it, I think Tony and Bruce could work together to synthesize a cure!
Re: EVENT - NEEDS APPROVAL FROM HOUSE CAST & VOLUNTEERS FOR PATIENTS
Event: A la the Marvel comic-verse's House of M saga, ALL DDD UNIVERSES are shifted into a dystopia. Everyone's greatest wishes - and I mean everyone's are granted, but they may not be exactly what you hoped.
Virus: You may or may not be thinking you belong in this dystopia. Characters may choose to either feel like things have ALWAYS been this way, or know that the world suddenly changed and try to figure out WHY/HOW.
Ideally, this event would be scheduled for anywhere from four to ten days.
A 'spy camera' type of virus? I saw there was an accidental video virus, but I was thinking something more specific. Some event in the characters life, either current or in the past, turns up in video form on the community, and can't be deleted. They probably wouldn't even know it was there until they stumbled across it or someone told them. It could be something embarrassing, or something they didn't want anyone to see or know about.
It could be anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Like, people could just describe a scene, or if they're from a movie or tv show, they could find the moment they want and put the youtube of that up, things like that.
Anyway, me and my friend were talking about YGO where they show their true faces (mostly because of Yuugi-kun's Puzzle), so why can't we at DDD do that for a day? Everyone shows their "true" faces.
These faces would resemble their inner heart, whatever that may look like. For example, an evil but beautiful woman would look very ugly inside, and this virus would show that! That's pretty much it, actually.
Romance novel viruses! Characters are stuck in a virus that makes them think that they're in a romance novel.
EX:
Thief King Dark finds the fallen Prince Rufus, in exile, in a meadow and in an instant by a flash of a pale thigh, he is captivated by Rufus and wants to make him his own.
OKAY SO. DDD is, OOCly, a LJ RPG. ICly, it is just an online community for people to talk to each other. What if, for a week or so, DDD ICly became an RPG? Like, characters on DDD would have to apply to play as someone else (i.e. Kaito would apply to play Rufus or something, and would play Rufus so badly that the actual Rufus would lineface :| at him the entire time).
IN ADDITION, the OOC community would become the OOC community for the characters ICly! That is, all posts to the OOC community would have to be done in character. If Norr has a modly post, she'd make it as TONY FUCKING STARK or something. Or if I went on hiatus, I'd announce it as Kaito.
If it's too complicated, we could always go the easier route and just have all posts the OOC community be IC for a week or something. Just for lulz. This idea was totally spawned about me thinking what it would be like if Tony Stark ran his own RPG, for srs.
This is along similar lines as the Eros Day virus we had about a year ago... I'm thinking of an affection virus. Like, characters have a need to be affectionate with others, be it cuddling, hugging, petting... what have you. The need is so great that they're just... very down and depressed if they aren't with someone else.
Much potential for awkwardness, but also for very sweet and tender moments. :3
Oh, and to clarify: they aren't pining after anyone specific, though they might like to cuddle someone specific. The idea is that they just need affection in general; it doesn't matter who it's coming from.
Your character is thrown into a Horror movie of your choice. Suspense, thriller, horror w/e. They can be put into the SAW serise with a group of other characters; The Messengers, BATS, RATS, I Am Legend, The Ring, Hide and Seek, The Village, White Noise, Psycho, Hannibal, The Happening - I can go on, but I'm sure you get the point. Pick which ever one fits your fancy and see what your character does. ^-^
FROM THE CREATORS OF THE ASSASSINS MINI EVENT, THE DDD HIGH SCHOOL IDEA AND SOME OTHER STUFF, I BRING YOU:
The Actors Virus.
Basically, participating characters will be affected by a virus where their posts are just "acts" and they're just actors in the normal world. So when the comments come in for the posts the characters will react like it's not real.
In example, Simon's affected. Kamina's not. Simon posts something that pings Kamina. Kamina comments, taking the situation srsly. Simon comments back, treating Kamina like another actor, like he's a normal fourteen year old kid. "Simon, YOURS IS THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS." "Oh, hey, Kamina. Wanna go grab something from Wendy's after this?"
They still retain most of their personalities, but they treat their canon like... well, like what it is. A story. A movie.
Fffff I know we've done this one like a million times already but I think it never gets old. Repeat of the childhood virus, anyone? That's regressing both physically and mentally (both memory-wise and behaviour-wise, that is) at the same time.
Any character with the ability to worldhop suddenly can't navigate. They can still worldhop just fine, they just end up somewhere completely different from where they were trying to get. Whether it's the right world, but the wrong location, or the right location on the wrong world, or somewhere completely random, no matter what they do they can't get to where they were initially trying to go.
Though this could easily last for four days, it would probably be funnier as a one-day virus. One lovely day of worldhopping WTF!
*giggles* Oh poor Tyki. I think this would be a great way to build some CR, and would also possibly create some wrinkles to plots. For example, if someone is desperate to get somewhere else to help someone, they suddenly CAN'T.
Inspired (sort of) by the Loveless virus of forever ago, I was thinking, how about another virus where characters gain the ability from one particular world? In this case, the Avatar world.
Bending virus, anyone? Come on, you know that you want your characters to gain the ability to water/fire/earth/airbend for a few days. :D Epic elemental battles and/or hilarity with a side-order of Azula shitting bricks would ensue.
Okay, so random idea for a virus, especially since I don't play any KH characters, but...
Traverse Town Virus. DDDers suddenly find themselves waking up in Traverse Town (Or some variation therefore) and being told their world is destroyed along with everyone they know who isn't in the town. Though not really. Or maybe really, but then their world gets fixed within the few days the virus is going. Or the powers that be in DDD just decided to send them there to make them think that and they find out later it's not so.
Really, just to see people flail and deal with thinking everything they knew is gone.
Not sure if it's been done here yet, but Kingdom Hearts event.
Heartless are appearing on every world and only the bravest can stop them! Watch out though, too much darkness and you could be set for becoming a heartless.
People affected by this virus think that other people are affected by a virus that's making them act strangely.
Take, as an example, Alex, who is a jerk, and his acquaintance Bob. Bob is affected by the virus, and Alex is not. Now, when Alex posts, being his normal jerk self, Bob will see it and think "what the hell? Alex is usually so nice! There must be a virus making him act mean!" even though Alex is actually acting perfectly normally.
... this is a really clever idea and I fully support it and I can imagine Karen being like "I'M CURE AQUA" and Kaito being like "what seriously no you're not THIS IS A VIRUS DDD:"
The affected person is *required* to reply to every single comment with that's what she said/your face/your mom/etc. instead of anything else! Basically, the most fail related comebacks ever.
Is Phoenix really Edgeworth's babydaddy? How's Adachi's mother taking his decision to get pregnant at 15? And oh my God! Russia's been accused of cheating on America with Poland! Is it even true?
There's only one way to find out for sure:
We need a Maury Povich/Trashy daytime TV show of choice Virus. Basically the whole comm goes up in smoke for a day as everyone assumes that it's a Very Special Episode discussing the terrible and secret exploits of the community.
If you've never seen The Maury Povich Show, here's some helpful (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGtWssdauME) links (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRdJ49ItMnc) that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pv4aYUFBh8) should (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k5sn15tERo) clear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWLbV05NPP8) up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Az10dr0xZY) any (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d-FTRSUfyU) confusion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5kVZNsgXzc).
I'm not sure if this has happen before... But the gist of this virus would be characters reposting old entries into the community! And that basically their mindset is at that time.
So for example, if they choose an entry from a 'year' ago then all the responses would be what they would have said a 'year' ago. Or if they choose to repost their 'into' entry, the entry they just wrote, etc.
It'd be a great chance for people to mindfuck or say what they wanted to say but didn't or for newly added characters to respond to some great posts. xD That last point wasn't about me, whut.
Inspired by looking at the CR memes and how complicated/completely onesided our relationships can be...
For one day/four days, people's relationships are flipped from what they normally are. Someone who's nursing a total crush on someone who isn't interested now finds himself ambivalent about that person's new advances. Someone who's only about the sex, while her parner wants a ~*meaningful relationship*~ with her, is now longing for more intimate things with her noncommittal partner.
It can work platonically, too: that grumpyface that this one guy thinks is a totally wonderful person who he's surely friends with, while grumpyface just wants him to stfu? Now the grumpyface is the one going 'of course we're friends, what are you talking about'. And the virus could work wonders on people who are normally terrified of some other community members...
...idk, this is my first time suggesting a virus and I'm not very good at explaining it. Edit for a better/less ambiguous virus name. Also for a typo.
