Character: Hanatarou Yamada Fandom: Bleach Character Notes: Hanatarou is a shinigami who resides in the afterlife, Soul Society. Shinigami have the task of peforming Soul Burials in order to send the souls of the dead to the afterlife before they can become corrupted Hollows - and they also have the task of slaying and purifying Hollows when they appear. Hanatarou, however, does not often get the chance to perform Soul Burials or fight Hollows. As a member of the 4th Division, the group of shinigami designated as a support and relief squad, he spends most of his time in Soul Society and does not often go to the living world. Instead, Hanatarou is a medic and quite talented even among the ranks of the 4th Division - although he usually finds himself doing the menial chores that are always delegated to the 4th Division by the other squads that do not find them worth doing. His combat skills, by comparison to his healing talent, are incredibly weak, but Hanatarou doesn't usually mind. It was a stroke of chance that he befriended the shinigami Rukia when she was imprisoned and sentenced to death, and it was because of her kindness to him that he decided he would risk anything to save her. He fell in with Ichigo and Ganju, two members of Rukia's rescue party, and did everything in his power to help them out, although he knew quite well that he was breaking Soul Society law by his actions. By the time Rukia was freed, Hanatarou had grown close to Ichigo and Ganju, and had rediscovered a surprising amount of confidence in himself.
Hanatarou is polite, clumsy and kind. He lacks confidence and tends to be cautious, and at first glance this can be mistaken for cowardice. However, Hanatarou is anything but a coward. Despite his physical weakness, is able to muster up an impressive amount of courage when it is needed. So few people are truly kind to him that he deeply cherishes those friends he does have, and will do anything for them.
Sample Post: I saw Ichigo-san and Rukia-san today! I don't usually get to go to the living world, so it was nice to see everyone. They seem like they're doing well, so I'm happy. I told Rukia-san and Renji-san everything I can think of that's been going on in Soul Society lately. I think they miss being there a little, but they seem pretty content with where they are.
I didn't think they would have known, but apparently Ichigo-san had found out about about that thing with the 11th Division a couple weeks ago. He got really mad about it... Rukia-san did too. She kept wondering if she should go back to Soul Society and talk to Ukitake-taichou about stopping them, but I'm fine really. They... they do scare me sometimes, but I've never been seriously hurt. I don't think Ichigo-san and Rukia-san believe me, but I can take care of myself. Well, I can heal myself anyway.
Anyway, they ended up saying that they'd talk to Ikkaku-san and Yumichika-san about it. (I didn't see either of them. Actually, I didn't see any of the shinigami except for Ichigo-san, Rukia-san and Renji-san.) I wish I could stay in the living world with everyone, and not just because of the 11th, but... well... it's been different since Rukia-san was rescued. It sounds sad, but... I don't think I've ever really had friends like this before.
Well, at least I'm not alone here. I promised Ganju-san I would visit him and Kuukaku-san in Rukongai next week... and Rikichi-san has been helping me a lot! He showed me a shortcut even I didn't know about, yesterday when I was late reporting to Isane-fukutaichou. I want to do something to help out more... I wish I could fight against Aizen with Ichigo-san... but for now, I'm doing all I can, and I'm really grateful to my friends.
D: And I really hate to do this. I was looking forward to joining. But life has suddenly, unexpectedly become very busy and stressful and I don't think I'll have time to keep up on this just yet.
I'm going to wait another month or so before becoming active... I'll reapply if I have to, if there's still a Hanatarou opening by then. again, really sorry... didn't foresee this happening. Maybe I should have, but, well.. ^^;;;
I went ahead and put you down as approved. If you'd like to drop, just let me know. If you do need to take a hiatus, that works too, just reply at this post (http://tripled-mods.livejournal.com/7360.html).
