He was intelligent - perhaps not to the point of being gifted, but to the point were he could see things that some people may not make the connections to. He was poor in athletics, and of course, that attracted a certain amount of bullying to him. Now, pay attention, this is important.
One day, Taro happened to pick up a notebook off the ground. It said Death Note on the cover - and being that, at the time, Taro had not yet learned Death in his English class, he took it home and decided that he would use it as a diary because his old one had run out of pages. So, he recorded the events of that day - including the bullying which had taken place.
The next day, all of those children died.
I won't bore you with the details, but eventually, Taro's guilt moved Ryuk the Shinigami into giving him a special eraser that could bring those boys back to life. Another boy in his class had also gotten the Death Note, but thanks to quick thinking, Taro saved himself and the other boy and turned themselves in.
To prove that these Notebooks were real... Well, Taro convinced his friend to write his name in the Notebook, then erase it with the eraser. The boy did so - but because of this, the child's sunny outlook on life turned rather grim. He'd seen the land of the dead. Something that no man should ever wish to see.
Seven years passed.
The media was all over the Death Note story. Taro's family eventually had to go into hiding - change their names to avoid the onslaught of publicity that followed them do to the careless slip of a tongue by one officer.
Unlike Light Yagami, Taro actually forged a friendship with the Shinigami Ryuk. To this day, they are still friends -- however, it is uncertain if Taro has gotten his hands on another Death Note or not.
Taro is your average seventeen year old now. He occasionally bounces back to being childish and happy, but for the most part he acts his age. He's a little morbid and more than a little angst-ridden, but hey, everybody goes through that.
It's speculated that he was the inspiration for Mikami - since they look alike and have a similar past. so this mun will be using some mikami icons for him Taro's also a realist - despite seeing a killer notebook for himself, he still doubts and questions a lot of what he hears. But that's just what any sensible young man does in these times.
Sample Post: After seven years, you'd think the world would get a little tired of a myth and start focusing on the real horrors of the world... Not laminating on something that may or may not have happened. It's a bit frustrating when you walk to the bookstore and see several more interviews by quack professors who had no idea what they're talking about when they mention those two dreaded words. Death Note. I've heard everything from it being a hoax to some grand scheme being orchestrated by God.
... But lately, I've been reading stranger things. Things on websites. The internet has gotten wildly popular in the past few years, after all, so now every household seems to have a computer. Every Dick and Jane can add in their two cents to matters that don't concern them.
But I digress, what has gotten me all riled up is this 'Kira'. Kira this, Kira that -- it seems to me that KIRA has no idea what he's doing and what harm he's causing. I know that this... place has some sort of dimensional rift - I was told about it by one of my friends... But really, I can't believe half of what I'm reading here.
A GENIUS ORPHANAGE? Oh come ON.
So if there is a Kira, an L -- and whomever else is in this huge scam, I'd rather like a word with you.
