Character: Sai Fandom: Naruto (Shippuden) Character Notes: Brief History: Sai is a boy from ANBU's "Root" division. In "Root" children go through special training to become assassins, and are raised to be devoid of any emotion to make missions more successful. "Sai" is not his actual name (it remains unknown), it is the name given to him by Danzou for his mission when he joins Team 7 as a replacement for Sasuke. When Sai is first introduced the best word to describe him is "asshole." He constantly makes teasing remarks to Naruto over the size of his penis (much lolz ensue) and even goes as far as to talk trash about Sasuke in front of Naruto and Sakura. After the battle between Orochimaru and Naruto, it appears that Sai betrays Team 7 when he runs off with Orochimaru and Kabuto. It is at first though that Sai is joining with Orochimaru on a secret mission to help crush the Leaf Village but it turns out his top secret mission was to assassinate Sasuke. Eventually, after Sai witnesses Naruto's devotion to Sasuke, their "bond," Sai decides to abandon his mission and experience bonds for himself. He even keeps the name "Sai" and asks Danzou for permission to stay with Team 7. Unfortunately for Sai, he is totally socially clueless and has not the slightest idea on how to make friends.
Personality: Sai longs to form bonds with people, but has little idea on how. To help himself with this, he goes to the library and reads books such as "How to Quickly Become Friends With People." Sai starts by trying to drop suffixes on names (like -kun.) When he meets Team 10 he tells them upfront that there was no need to use suffixes with him. He then tries to come up with nicknames but ends up offending by giving nick names based on how he sees people. For example, he calls Sakura "Ugly Dog" (he gets a beating for it XD) and almost calls Chouji "fat" before Naruto stops him. He then tries to call people the opposite to avoid retaliation and calls Ino "beautiful," but then gets another beating from Sakura. Did I mention he has an obsession with dick insults? okay. (Though in the series curently he has stopped doing it as much, I'll still try to through in some remarks in RP)

Despite the magnitude of pictures he has drawn, his lack of emotion makes it impossible for him to be inspired to give something a title, and thus all of his works are nameless. Sai's drawing ability is also the source of his jutsu; by drawing things with a brush on his scroll he is able to bring his creations to life, giving them an increased size and the ability to move. His Super Beasts Imitation Picture (超獣偽画, Chōjū Giga?) allows him to create birds that he can use for flight and lion-like creatures that he can use for attack. Likewise, by creating an Ink Clone (墨分身, Sumi Bunshin?) of himself, he can perform a reconnaissance of an area without actually endangering himself. Sai can also transform words he writes on his scroll into small animals that seek out their target and revert back to words upon arriving, giving Sai an easy way to communicate.

Gazing at the endless sheet of sunny sky above him, Sai felt a little inspired, and with nothing else to do to pass the time, pulled out his sketchbook and some charcoal. He bagan by sketching vague circles in large sweeps, then he started to work out the details of a pond scenery.
When Sai drew he rarely started with an idea of what the outcome would be. His mind was usually blank. Lately he had had a flood of ideas in his head and his latest pictures had a new life to them that his art hadn't ever had before, even his jutsu had changed in a way. What's more is he started to get into the habit of titling his pictures, although at times it was a little difficult. He attributed this sudden abundance of inspiration to his new friends.
The thought of them sent a strange warmth through his body- he figured it must be the emotion "happiness." He smiled softly and then continued to sketch in a few fish swimming together in the pond.
